Privacy Policy
What New Life Daily collects, why, who helps us run it, and how to delete it. Last updated 24 September 2026.
New Life Daily (“we”) is the app and website at newlifedailyapp.com, run from Hendersonville, North Carolina. This policy covers both. If anything here is unclear, email newlifedailyapp@gmail.com and a real person will answer.
The short version. We never sell what you share, and there are no ads. The app has no analytics or advertising trackers in it; our website uses Google Analytics to count visits. Pastor Pauly is an AI: to write his replies, what you write to him is sent to outside AI services (Groq, Google Gemini and OpenAI). The app asks for your OK before anything you type to him is sent. You can delete your account and what’s in it at any time.
What we collect
- Your account. Your name, email address and password (stored only as a secure hash). If you choose to give them: your birth year, gender, where you are in your faith, your church’s name and website, a preferred denomination, a place name you type in, and a profile photo. We also keep your time zone, language and reminder times.
- What you write. Your conversations with Pastor Pauly, prayers and praises, daily check-ins and notes, reflections and journal entries, hardships and milestones on your tree, testimonies, highlighted verses, and answers to “Help Pastor Pauly know you”. Pastor Pauly also keeps short notes about people and burdens you’ve mentioned; you can see and delete them in the app under Profile › Privacy › What Pastor Pauly Remembers.
- How you use New Life Daily. Your progress on your path, days walked, readings completed, when you last opened the app, and which version of the app you’re using.
- Notifications. If you turn on reminders, a push notification token for your device (or a browser push subscription on the website), so we can reach you.
- Location for the garden’s weather. If you allow it, the app reads your device’s location so the weather in your garden matches yours. We round it to about 11 km before asking the weather service, and we don’t save it to your account.
- Gifts and subscriptions. A record of each gift or subscription: your email address, the amount, the date and the payment provider’s reference. Card and bank details go straight to Stripe, PayPal or Google Play — we never see or store them.
- Church features. If your church uses New Life Daily: your membership, whether you’ve allowed your church’s leaders to see how you’re doing, and any messages between you and a church leader.
- Feedback. If you mark one of Pastor Pauly’s replies as helpful or not, we keep that reply and the message that led to it so Paul can read it and make him better.
Your Pastor Pauly conversations, prayers, check-in notes, hardships, reflections and journal entries are encrypted in our database.
Why we use it
- To run your account and your daily walk, and to remember where you are on your path.
- To personalise your daily readings and Pastor Pauly’s replies, so they fit where you actually are.
- To send the reminders and emails you’ve chosen, plus the few emails an account needs (a welcome, a note when your email changes, a goodbye when you leave). Reminder emails have an unsubscribe link, and the newsletter is only for people who sign up for it.
- To take gifts and subscriptions.
- To keep people safe: when a message suggests someone may be in danger, Pastor Pauly points them to real help, and messages with church leaders can be reported.
- To find and fix problems.
We do not sell your information or share it with data brokers, and New Life Daily shows no ads.
Pastor Pauly and the AI services behind him
Pastor Pauly is an AI, not a person. His replies — and some other personal words in the app, such as your daily reading, the word after a check-in, reflections, and your daily mission — are written by outside AI services: Groq, Google (Gemini) and OpenAI. We try one, and if it isn’t available we use the next.
What is sent. What you write to Pastor Pauly, along with up to 30 recent messages from the same conversation. So the reply fits you, some of what New Life Daily knows about you goes with it — such as your first name, approximate age, gender, where you are in your faith, people and burdens you’ve told him about, hardships you’ve recorded, recent prayers, and the season you named at your last Sabbath check-in. Features that respond to a check-in, reflection or testimony send what you wrote there. Your daily reading can be written using details such as your first name, approximate age, gender, where you are in your faith and a hardship you recorded recently.
What we take out first. In Pastor Pauly conversations and most other AI features, we replace your full name, your church’s name, email addresses, phone numbers and web links with placeholders before anything is sent, and put them back when the reply arrives. Everything else — including other people’s names, and your first name when Pastor Pauly uses it to speak to you — is sent as written.
Why. Only to write the reply or reading you’re about to see. We don’t use what you write to train AI models. Each AI service handles what it receives under its own terms and privacy policy.
Your choice. The New Life Daily app asks for your OK before anything you type to Pastor Pauly is sent. If you choose “Not now”, nothing you type to him is sent, and you can still read Scripture, pray and use the rest of the app. On the website, voice prayers you record are sent to Google (Gemini) or OpenAI to be turned into text.
Other services that help us run New Life Daily
- Railway hosts our servers and database.
- Stripe and PayPal process gifts and subscriptions made on our website. Google Play processes subscriptions bought in the Android app.
- Firebase Cloud Messaging (Google) delivers push notifications to Android devices; browsers deliver website notifications through their own push services.
- Buttondown sends the newsletter, and receives your email address only if you sign up for it.
- Resend delivers our emails.
- Open-Meteo provides the garden’s weather, and receives only the rounded location described above.
- API.Bible and bible-api.com provide Scripture text, including what you type into Scripture search.
- Google signs you in, if you choose “Sign in with Google” on the website.
- Google Analytics and Google Tag Manager measure visits to the website’s main page. They are not in the app.
Each receives only what it needs to do that job.
Deleting your account
You can delete your account whenever you like:
- In the app: Profile › Account › Account Details, then scroll to Delete my account.
- On the web: newlifedailyapp.com/delete-account.
- By email: newlifedailyapp@gmail.com.
Deleting your account cancels a New Life Daily subscription bought on our website, and deletes your account and what you’ve written in it — your Pastor Pauly conversations and what he remembers, prayers, check-ins, reflections, hardships and your tree. We send one goodbye email, remove you from the newsletter, and don’t contact you again. Google doesn’t let us cancel a subscription bought through Google Play, so if you have one, cancel it in the Play Store first (Payments & subscriptions › Subscriptions); until then we can’t delete the account, because it could still charge you.
What we keep afterwards. Records of gifts and recurring gifts made on our website stay, with the email address, amount, date and payment reference, because we need them for our accounts; they are no longer linked to an account. We also keep a one-way scrambled (hashed) copy of your email address, so we can keep our promise not to write to you again. Deleting your account does not stop a recurring gift — you can stop that any time at newlifedailyapp.com/giving.
Young people
People under 18 can use New Life Daily. We use the birth year you give us to keep some features safe: private messaging with church leaders is only for adults, and someone under 18 needs a parent or guardian to confirm by email before joining a church.
